Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp, a clinical negligence specialist partner at Kester Cunningham John, has obtained a £37,000 settlement for Mr T. Mr T, who is in his 40s, suffered an anal tear when he fell from a step ladder at home. He went to hospital where the wound was sutured and he was then sent home without any antibiotics or painkillers. He went on to develop a perianal abscess which required him to be re-admitted for further treatment, following which a colostomy was performed to allow the back passage to heal. Unfortunately during the colostomy operation he suffered aspiration pneumonitis which necessitated him being admitted to the High Dependency Unit. He had to endure the colostomy for over 18 months and, following his reversal operation, he was still left with some residual faecal leakage. If the appropriate investigations and treatment has been undertaken when he first went to hospital it is more than likely a colostomy would not have been required.Latest Headlines
