Cambridge Joint Venture attracts national interest

Practice area: General

Kester Cunningham John's Financial Planning Director Paul Russell has recently addressed a national conference of Lawyers from around the UK, and was asked to talk about a unique joint venture business between regional law firm KCJ and Chartered Accountants Price Bailey LLP.

The conference was arranged by the leading training provider Central Law Training under the theme "Planning your firm's future" and was aimed at helping law firms prepare their businesses for the effects of the Legal Services Act due in 2008. Paul gave his presentation at the historic venue of Coombe Abbey.

Those present listened with interest to the background and structure of the joint venture between the two firms. Paul explained that after a year of discussion and preparation, KCJ Financial Planning LLP was launched in April of this year and builds both on Price Bailey's experience in Financial Planning and the law firms desire to provide their clients with top quality financial planning advice, through a seamless 'one stop' approach.
KCJ's Managing Partner Simon Smith said, "We are very pleased that our firm has received national recognition for our work in creating our joint venture with Price Bailey.''
"The new Act will lead to a seismic shift in the structure of the legal profession with different ownership structures and joint venture businesses likely to become more common. Progressive firms are already able to achieve some of the same outcomes even within the existing framework and by getting started now; we see more market reform as a great opportunity to compete more effectively".
