We believe it is vital that children maintain an ongoing relationship with their parents. We work hard, where possible without the intervention of courts, to resolve issues such as where, and with whom, the child or children should live, parental contact, and their education.
Even if no agreement can be reached, there are other options that do not have to result in the stress and expense of a court hearing. Mediation services are available to help parents work out the best arrangements for the children through a child-centred approach. Collaborative Law can also be used to help parents resolve issues about their children. Sometimes court proceedings are necessary and we are fully equipped to guide you through this process.
If a parent wishes to remove a child permanently from England and Wales to live elsewhere without the other party’s agreement, or if one parent removes a child from this country without the other’s permission, we have considerable experience of the court proceedings involved.
The aim in resolving matters in relation to children is always to reach an agreement which is in the child’s best interests.
When parents separate, children can find the process very difficult. There are a wide range of resources available to parents and children to help children come to terms with divorce and separation. www.resolution.org.uk
