Collaborative Law aims to identify issues and solve problems in a positive and non-confrontational way. Clients and their lawyers attend meetings together – similar to mediation sessions – but with both clients and their lawyers present. They sign a contract and agree not to litigate or to involve the court unnecessarily.
Once a settlement is agreed, the lawyers make it binding in a Consent Order or Separation Agreement, if required. Success rates are high and we believe Collaborative Law is likely to become a welcome non-adversarial alternative to the usual litigation route for an increasing number of families.
Our family lawyers are trained in Collaborative Law and are members of the International Academy of Collaborative Practitoners.
